The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) results for this year have been made available online, and the majority of candidates have already checked their results. While many students return home with high marks, others wonder what they will do with their low marks, as some schools' cut off marks begin at 180 and above.
Take note that regardless of your score, you can still gain admission to your preferred institution.
Many candidates are now wondering, "What should I do after I check my Jamb result?" Your question will be answered in this article, so make sure you read it all the way through.
The following are the five things you must do after checking your JAMB results.
1.Check Your Course And Cut Off
Once you've confirmed that you've passed your school's general cut off mark, the next step is to see if you're eligible to be admitted with your score.
This is the first thing you must understand. It will tell you whether or not you are qualified for admission to your preferred school. The cut-off point for institutions is divided into two categories;
(a) The general cut-off mark: the lowest JAMB score required before you are eligible for admission to the institution.
(b) the departmental cut-off mark: This is the lowest possible score required to be admitted to the course or department for which you applied.Most schools announce their admission cut-off marks when they announce their admission screening process. If you wait until then, it may be too late. This is because you need to know the cut-off mark in order to decide whether or not to change your course or institution before it closes. So you should look into the school's previous cut-off marks to see if you have a chance or if you need to change courses and institutions.

2.Consider Whether To Change institution Or Course
If your score is insufficient for your first choice school, fill out a change of institution form.
If your JAMB score is insufficient to gain admission to the course or institution to which you applied, you will need to change courses or institutions. Two considerations should be made when changing your course and institution:
a: The course you want to switch to must be in line with your UTME subject combination. For example, if your UTME subject combination is English, Mathematics, literature-in-english, and Economics, do not change to a course like political science. This will not work because to study political science you need Government or History as one of your UTME subjects combination
b: Confirm that the institution to which you are changing can accept your UTME score and offers the course to which you want to change.
After you've confirmed the above information, you can apply for a change of course or institution.
